Booz Allen Selected to Support Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery

Booz Allen Selected to Support Navy Bureau of Medicine and SurgeryMcLean, VA — Booz Allen Hamilton announced it has been awarded a multi-year, firm fixed price (FFP) contract by the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) based in Washington, D.C. The contract is valued at $10.7 million over a period 27 months.

Under the terms of the contract, Booz Allen’s team will provide on-site primary support and technical services to the BUMED M6/Chief Information Officer (CIO) office. Additionally, Booz Allen will provide governance and strategic planning services to facilitate the timely access, sharing, and protection of medical information worldwide.

"BUMED serves a vital mission in providing quality healthcare services to Sailors and Marines worldwide. Whether at sea, on the battlefield, or in a CONUS deployment, BUMED is relied upon to provide critical mission support, which requires real-time access to secure and accurate medical information and reliable IT services,” said Natalie Givans, Senior Vice President, Booz Allen Hamilton.

BUMED M6/CIO relies on the TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) for the acquisition, configuration, and maintenance of the majority of BUMED’s IT systems. As a result, BUMED M6/CIO’s success is largely dependent on the relationships and interaction it maintains with TMA, the Department of the Navy, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other stakeholders. Through the contract, Booz Allen will work closely with BUMED M6/CIO to maintain strong liaison roles with key offices and departments to ensure discussions and decisions account for unique Navy Medicine requirements before policy or procedural mandates are issued.

Booz Allen has a strong history in supporting Navy Medicine. In 2006, the firm began supporting the Navy Medicine information assurance (IA) implementation command, NAVMISSA, under the e-SEAPORT/SPAWAR contract. As a part of that work, Booz Allen helped to strategically form and support the enterprise IA program and efforts to expand the functions of the BUMED M6/CIO office.
